Laboratory with Microscope

This is a piece of art created by William Kentridge called "Laboratory with Microscope"  and can be found in his series "Stereoscope" from 1999.  The piece is created with charcoal and pastel.  His work is based on filming a drawing, making erasor marks and changes, and filming. His process is meticulous, giving each change to the drawing a quarter of a second to two seconds’ screen time. A single drawing will be altered and filmed this way until the end of a scene. These drawings are later displayed along with the films as finished pieces of art.
