Downtrodden
“Downtrodden” by Kathe Kollwitz in 1900. This etching is of three victims of poverty. To create this image the artist used etching and aquatinit on paper.Aquatint is almost like etching except it uses uses powdered rosin to create a tonal effect. The ‘downtrodden’ subjects are used in many of Kollwitzs' artwork. This image is hanging in The National Museum of Women in the Arts in Washington D.C.
