This is "Four Dancers" by Edgar Degas. Degas created this painting in 1899, using the mediums of oil on canvas. "Four Dancers" is one of many painting with dancers as the subjects that Degas had created. This particular painting is interesting because of the use of color and perspective. Notice that the dancers are not centered. This technique was used by Degas to show movement of the dancers. The warm colors and use of perspective of the background set this painting apart from others.
I chose this piece because I had it hanging in my room as a child. I've spent years starring at this painting, but up until now, I had not appreciated the techniques and use of color.
